A Heartbreaking History
Behind the creation of Sanctum Paws & Fangs lies a powerful and deeply personal story—the story of Envigo, the infamous company responsible for breeding and testing on thousands of beagles, including Ethan. Ethan was one of the Envigo survivors, a dog who endured unimaginable pain and suffering in the name of so-called scientific research. His story is not just his own—it represents the struggles of thousands of animals who lived and died in laboratories, used as mere tools for experimentation.
I never imagined that a beagle with a tattoo in his ear would change the course of my life. Ethan’s journey from an Envigo prisoner to a beloved companion marked the turning point in my mission to create Sanctum Paws & Fangs—a business born out of my desire to give animals a voice and, ultimately, to help end animal testing.
The Broken System of Animal Testing
When I first learned about Envigo and the scale of animal testing, I was horrified. The 4000 beagles that were rescued from the Envigo facility were just a fraction of the total number of animals subjected to cruel experiments in labs across the globe. These innocent animals were deprived of the love, care, and compassion that all pets deserve. But Ethan and his fellow survivors weren’t the only victims—their story represents the untold suffering of millions of animals, both domestic and wild, who are tested on for products they will never use and procedures they will never benefit from.
Despite the harsh realities of the animal testing industry, there is hope. Many of the Envigo survivors—including Ethan—are now thriving, living in loving homes where they can experience the comfort and joy they were denied for so long. These survivors have shown the world that, despite the horrors of their past, they can heal and go on to lead happy, fulfilling lives.
Why This Mission Matters

It’s a way for us to support the rescue organizations that are working to give animals like Ethan a better life, while also offering ethical, healthy products to our customers.

Fighting for Change – The Next Steps
We are just getting started. The vision for Sanctum Paws & Fangs is not limited to selling high-quality pet products; it’s about making a difference. As we grow, we will continue to expand our offerings and increase our support for rescues, including working with organizations like the Beagle Freedom Project. Our ultimate goal is to make a lasting impact on the world by creating a world free from animal testing, where all animals are treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.
In addition to our ongoing support for rescues, we also want to raise awareness about the larger issue of animal testing. We will continue to collaborate with activists, organizations, and advocates who share our vision and fight for legislation that will help end the use of animals in laboratories.
